LAND/scape is a public art project produced by the Occidental Community Council, made possible with funds from Creative Sonoma and the County of Sonoma.

It includes three main components:
  • •  the development and installation of a temporary, participatory mural on two sides of the Occidental Community Center
•  installation of colorful lamp post flags from one end of town to the other
  • • connected activations at local businesses

  • The intent is to bring joy; build community cohesion; and visually connect the downtown corridor.

GET INVOLVED!

A bit part of the LAND/scape initiative involves hearing from the community.
What do you love about the Occidental and surrounding landscape?
What are the colors, lines, and textures that reflect the energy of this particular place?
We need your photographs to inform our mural.

The Public Art Subcommittee selected Hunter Franks to lead the project.
Hunter currently lives in Sebastopol with deep ties to Occidental.
He will use your photographs to design a a landscape mural that reflects the essence of what was submitted.
We'll also create an exhibit in the Community Center to display the individual photos.

If you’re passionate about storytelling, sparking joy, and beautifying town with art, we want to hear from you.
Let’s shape our landscape together!

Deadline for submissions is July 15th.
