FIRE SAFE OCCIDENTAL Fire Safe Occidental is a volunteer organization dedicated to promoting the safety of Occidental residents (that is, the area stretching from Camp Meeker on the north, Green Hill Road on the east, Freestone on the South, and Coleman Valley on the west.) REDWOOD ARTS COUNCIL The Redwood Arts Council was founded in 1980 by a group of music lovers whose goal was to bring quality entertainment to the Occidental area. The Redwood Arts Council books concerts that rival the quality of chamber music performances in large metropolitan areas. OCCIDENTAL COMMUNITY CHOIR The Occidental Community Choir was founded in 1978 by residents of the Occidental area. They compose and perform their own music which they describe as ranging from “fugues and folk to madrigals and classical, from reverent to irreverent and everything in-between”. SALMON CREEK WATERSHED COUNCIL Salmon Creek Watershed encompasses approximately 35 square miles in western Sonoma County. Salmon Creek drains directly into the Pacific Ocean at the Salmon Creek Estuary. Salmon Creek has 6 major tributaries and links the towns of Occidental, Freestone, Bodega and Salmon Creek. The Council does research and offers education and works on programs including Water Conservation and Habitat Restoration. OCCIDENTAL LIBRARY STATION The Occidental Library Station is a branch of the Sonoma County Library. In addition to the small collection maintained in Occidental, any books in the Sonoma County Library’s collection can be ordered and picked up at the Occidental branch. BODEGA LAND TRUST The Bodega Land Trust was formed in 1992 and received 501(c)3 tax-exempt status in 1997.
