REDWOOD ARTS COUNCIL
The Redwood Arts Council was founded in 1980 by a group of music lovers whose goal was to bring quality entertainment to the Occidental area. The Redwood Arts Council books concerts that rival the quality of chamber music performances in large metropolitan areas. OCCIDENTAL YMCA EXTENSION
The Occidental YMCA Extension is part of the Sonoma County Family YMCA and it focuses on providing services for Occidental and surrounding communities. HARMONY UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT
The Harmony School District consists of Harmony Elementary School and Salmon Creek Middle School, grades 5-8. The District is known for its emphasis on the individual child, the environmental sciences, the arts, technology, and a warm and supportive atmosphere for all. An exceptionally flexible home study program accommodates the needs of many families who seek alternatives to classroom based instruction. OCCIDENTAL AREA HEALTH CENTER
The Occidental Area Health Center, 3802 Main Street, is a licensed community health center associated with West County Health Centers, Inc. OCCIDENTAL COMMUNITY CHOIR
The Occidental Community Choir was founded in 1978 by residents of the Occidental area. They compose and perform their own music which they describe as ranging from “fugues and folk to madrigals and classical, from reverent to irreverent and everything in-between”. OCCIDENTAL ARTS AND ECOLOGY CENTER
The Occidental Arts and Ecology Center is a nonprofit organizing and educational center and organic farm. The OAEC describes its programs as combining “research, demonstration, education, and organizing to develop collaborative, community-based strategies for positive social change and effective environmental stewardship”. OCCIDENTAL LIBRARY STATION
The Occidental Library Station is a branch of the Sonoma County Library. In addition to the small collection maintained in Occidental, any books in the Sonoma County Library’s collection can be ordered and picked up at the Occidental branch.
