Council Activities
The purpose of the Occidental Community Council is to identify and meet the unmet needs of people living in the Occidental area. Here is a partial list of what the Council has done since its inception in 1986.

Sponsored the Annual Occidental Holiday Crafts Faire

Created the Senior Nutrition Program, including the Meals on Wheels

Began a Volunteer Wheels service with the Occidental Area Health Center

Established the Resource Fund for emergency non-recurring needs of groups and individuals in the Occidental area

Put up the Community Bulletin Board

Help start an ESL (English as a second language) program for adults at Harmony School
-
Sponsor for the Community Service Awards, acknowledging local youth and their contributions to our community

Sponsor for the Young Writers Competition for K-8 grades
-
In 2002, contributed $2000 to the Harmony Music program to purchase instruments
